What else should I know?
I am not there to probe feelings out of you that you are not ready to share.
There are no boxes to tick.
I do not diagnose. I am not a psychiatrist or a doctor.
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes and are ideally every week, though this can be discussed if financially not viable or life style does not allow. Leaving it too long between sessions stops the subconscious from processing the therapeutic work.
FEES
I charge £50 for an individual session
£60 for a couples session
£45 for a person on a counselling course.
I accept Bank Transfer if you ask for my details, Cash or Cheque .
Normslly sessins are best face to face, but a Zoom (if you invite me in), WhatsApp video call or telephone session
are all possible.
Your first appointment will last an hour and I will explain more about the aspect of confidentiality to allow you to be clear on your safety needs and take a few details about yourself and your life. During our first appointment you will get to feel whether you would benefit from counselling and wish to continue seeing me. There will be time to discuss your needs even if you decide not to continue.
You do not have to be clear as to what your problem is, or indeed, whether or not you have a problem at all. It can, however, help you to get the most out of your first session, if you reflect beforehand about the following questions;
What would I like to feel so I knew I no longer needed counselling?
How long has this been going on?
How widely does this affect my life?
What are my thoughts, feelings and or actions surrounding this problem.?
What do I hope the result of counselling to be?
If, on the other hand, you feel very clear about your situation and what you want to gain from counselling, bear in mind that your expectations could change during your sessions.
Once you decide you want to continue, we will usually aim for a first set of six sessions (though of course this can be less if you do not feel the need for them). We will review where you are in the process at about the fifth session and whether you would like to carry on with further sessions. Sessions are continually reviewed every six weeks. This system though is not set in stone and can be adapted to suit different needs.
An ending session is contracted between you and myself when you feel the time is right. This is a very important part of the counselling process.
